Two of NY's best face off: Massapequa vs Garden City

On top notch lacrosse teams, it is common for defense and goalkeeping to be overshadowed by high-scoring offensive performances.

That was not the case when DigitalSports’ 7^th nationally ranked team, Massapequa, faced 24^th ranked Garden City.

Both of these teams are familiar with dominating their opponents, easily running the score into the double-digits. On March 2, the two New York heavyweights were in quite a different situation as both teams’ defenses suffocated any offensive showing throughout the contest.

In his season debut and on his birthday, goalie Tommy Kempton made an astonishing 19 saves, only allowing three goals out of Garden City. Team that up with Ryan Tierney’s four goals and an assist, and Massapequa walked a 6-3 victory.

Massapequa, now 5-0, takes a short break before getting back on the field on March 7 to face Baldwin. Look out for the Chiefs as they continue to impress and work their way up the national rankings.
